The project brief required the creation of an original editorial magazine with a
masthead, typographic focus (75% type), and a double page spread
featuring an African typographer. The theme was “Generational curses.”

The masthead aimed for an Afrocentric, tribal feel, with a spear head
on the “l” symbolizing citizenship. The gradient contour, orange and red,
evoked blood flow, reflecting the struggles of many youths in the country.
The “These are not your sins” theme reflects the problems faced by their
predecessors.
